When Qiqi (pseudonym) said these words, her eyes sparkled with hope. On January 26, 2026, with the loving support of the Shanghai Make-A-Wish Foundation, this brave little warrior received a most precious gift at Ward 7 of the Hematology and Oncology Department at Beijing Jingdu Children's Hospital: a specially customized "Doctor Experience Day" just for her.

The Pink Coat: A Doctor for a Day
On the morning of January 26, Ward 7 welcomed a very special "little doctor." Under the personal guidance of Dr. Liu Hongyan, Director of the Hematology and Oncology Department, Qiqi began her "ward rounds" in earnest.
She listened attentively to the director's explanations, her eyes full of curiosity and longing. There was none of the heaviness of illness in this special round—only the warmth and encouragement of a wish coming true.

After the rounds, a heartwarming award ceremony was held in the ward. Dr. Liu Hongyan solemnly presented Qiqi with a beautifully prepared "honorary certificate," recognizing not only her outstanding performance that day but also her extraordinary courage throughout her long medical journey.

"Why do you want to become a doctor?" When asked, Qiqi's answer was simple and firm: "I want to help more children."
Behind these simple words lies a long journey of fighting illness since the age of four. From the confusion of early leg pain to the challenge of being diagnosed with neuroblastoma; from the hardships of multiple surgeries, chemotherapy sessions, and stem cell transplants to the exhaustion of seeking treatment across different cities—this small figure has carried resilience far beyond her years.
After coming to Beijing Jingdu Children's Hospital, Qiqi's condition gradually stabilized under the professional treatment and careful care of the Hematology and Oncology team. It was the medical staff's meticulous care and superb clinical skills that planted a deep seed in her heart: "I want to become like you."

About the Hematology & Oncology Department
The Hematology and Oncology Department at Beijing Jingdu Children's Hospital is one of the hospital's key disciplines. Led by renowned pediatric hematology experts including Professor Wu Minyuan, a State Council-recognized expert with special contributions, and Professor Sun Yuan, President of Beijing Jingdu Children's Hospital and Director of the Hematology and Oncology Department, the department is recognized as:
- A Beijing Basic Medical Insurance designated pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant institution
- A registered collection and transplant hospital of the China Marrow Donor Program
- The leading unit of national multicenter collaborative groups for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in pediatric hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and autologous cord blood therapy for acquired aplastic anemia
The department includes Ward 7 (solid tumor ward), Ward 8 (transplant ward), Ward 9 (hematology ward), the International Department, two transplant units, a central laboratory, hematology outpatient clinic, PICC clinic, and a comfort care treatment room, totaling 150 beds and 19 Class-100 transplant chambers.
With extensive experience in diagnosing and treating leukemias, lymphomas, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, chronic active EBV infection, bone marrow failure diseases, primary immunodeficiencies, genetic metabolic diseases, and various solid tumors including neuroblastoma, the department has completed more than 900 hematopoietic stem cell transplants since its establishment, performing approximately 100 transplants annually.
